Outward Bound
I completed a 28 Day course in the wilderness of the Boundary Waters of Canada and Minnesota. Removed from all of the comforts and safeties of my daily life, I was pushed beyond my preconceived ideas of my physical and mental limits. Additionally, I was pushed into this situation with 7 other girls, all from completely different backgrounds and lives. We were forced to learn to communicate and collaborate, and while this was not a global experience per say, it broadened my horizons and strengthened my ability to listen to and attempt to work with those of completely different ideologies towards a common end goal, without attacking or belittling the opposing side and viewpoints.
The Outward Bound School also incorporates an aspect of service, which allowed us to access our full potential both within nature, and outside of it.

Apogee enabled me to travel to Puerto Rico and Costa Rica to complete service, strengthen my understanding of language and culture, and introduce me to people from all backgrounds and on all walks of life.
